The ROADGUARD/2
The ROADGUARD/2 is the first portable Jersey-style barrier to use the
new blow-molding manufacturing process, with high-density polyethylene
materials. The result is a barrier that is easier to handle and deploy,
at a significantly lower cost than the traditional rotationally molded
barrier.
The ROADGUARD/2 barrier weighs 85 pounds, is double-chambered, and is 6
feet long, 3.5 feet high, 2 feet wide at the bottom and 10 inches wide
at the top. The double chamber provides two vertical walls in the
center of the barrier that deliver added strength, stability, and
function. When filled with water, the ROADGUARD/2 barrier weighs 1600
lbs.
The ROADGUARD/2 is a major break through in Jersey-style portable plastic barriers.
High-density polyethylene has a much higher tensile and resilient
strength than the low-density polyethylene normal to the industry.
Barriers manufactured using the new process and the new high-density
polyethylene materials are cheaper to make, stronger, lighter, and
easier to handle, with greater flexibility in how they are used. The
following table shows the comparative strengths of low-density and
high-density Polyethylene.

*Tensile Strength - The pulling strength required to break a given specimen.
Flexural Strength - The tensile stress of the outermost fibers of a bent test sample at the instant of failure. Flexural Modulus - A measure of the strain imposed in the outermost fibers of a bent specimen.

The ROADGUARD/2 has all of the key features of the original
ROADGUARD barrier, including the patented self-locking ramp, pin and
hole mounting system, and the ability to turn 15 degrees in either
direction at the connection. The ROADGUARD/2 is backward compatible and
can be deployed in combination with the original Roadguard.
The ROADGUARD/2 can be also be purchased without locking devices, to enable it to nest with barriers from other manufacturers.
Advanced features of the ROADGUARD/2 include two handgrips at each
end of the barrier, two (2) fill holes at the top of the barrier (one
for each chamber), and four (4) drain plugs (two on each side of the
barrier). In addition, the ROADGUARD/2 has slots and channels built
into the barrier, which provide the ability to mount panels, screens,
signs, fencing and flashers on the barrier. Optional grounding channels
are available when anchoring is required.
All ROADGUARD/2 barriers are manufactured with UV inhibitors and are
available in orange, white, or mixed orange and white units.
